Sliding Scale $120-180, scholarship available
Join musician, composer, music therapist, professor and cantorial student, Lisa Sokolov for an introductory immersion into voice, body, and spiritual practice. Drawing on developmental movement, deep listening, playful non-verbal dialogue, and her exprience as a Jewish prayer leader, Sokolov will use her Embodied VoiceWork technique to explore non-verbal singing as prayer within the context of sacred practice.
Embodied VoiceWork is a transformational physical, psycho-spiritual practice used in Arts Education, Music Therapy and Human Potential work. This play explores the power within freeing one's voice and exploring the language of non-verbal improvisational singing. Through opening consciousness, breath and tone into the body, we lay pathways for communication with ourselves, each other, music and the divine.
The group will be limited to 15 people. Participants should wear clothing in which they can comfortably roll on the floor. The workshop is open to people of all religious and spiritual backgrounds.
