Nign Sing

an evening of embodied song

An immersion into niggunim, a form of wordless song used as a Jewish spiritual practice. We will explore this practice from a secular spiritual perspective, taking an embodied, somatic approach.

This welcoming and inclusive event is open to people of all backgrounds, religions, and skill levels. No previous musical experience required!

When: Friday January 30, 7-8:30pm
Where: The Red Barn, 119 Old Sunderland Rd, Montague Center

Facilitator Jesse Olsen Bay is a life-long musician, composer, and teacher, drawing on his experience in vocal work, Jewish music, music therapy and somatics for this event.

PLEASE NOTE: This event takes place on the second floor of the building, and requires navigating a staircase. No elevator or ramp is available.

Join us for a community workshop and concert at the Montague Common Hall, with acclaimed singer, composer, and song-collector Moira Smiley (Vermont).

Mountain Lions

with O Ksenos

An evening of Balkan-inspired music with Mountain Lions (NYC). Mountain Lions plays ecstatic, immersive Balkan/Roma-inspired dance music featuring percussionist Matt Moran (Slavic Soul Party!) and saxophonists Peter Hess, Catherine Foster, Daro Behroozi.

Opening up the show will be local favorites O Ksenos, playing traditional Greek folk music and rembetika. Featuring Rafe Wolman (violin) Clarissa Lyons (clarinet) Heather Kuhn (vocals) and Jesse Bay (strings, vocals, percussion).

World Music Mini-fest

Our annual FREE World Music Mini-fest returns to Peskeompskut Park in Turners Falls, with a full afternoon and evening of concerts, workshops, and food! Featuring Juan Carlos Marin Band (trad. Mexican Son Jarocho), Myrtle Street Klezmer (E. European Jewish), and more TBA.

Plus…Food by El Sotano Taco Truck!
